Have you ever played math games with a small child? Part of it is often creating a situation that is conducive to them learning something important and in the end they win the game. Even though they won, does that really mean that you lose? You are more than capable of completing the task to win the game, but that isn’t really the goal. The book of Daniel opens in a time where God has done something similar. God was “defeated” by Babylon. His people were taken from the land, articles were taken from the temple, and the nation of Babylon believed that their god had conquered God.
